BCC - Projected Image Night

The Boise Camera Club does not participate in traditional slide competitions, we show only digital projected images.

During meetings, images are displayed, judged, critiqued and if time allows, comments are taken from the members.

Digital Image Submission Rules

Members may submit three (3) images for judging each month. "Make-up" images will be permitted to allow a member to reach the thirty-three (33) maximum but a member should not submit more than four images for judging at one meeting. (The club does not have regular meetings in August). Make up images are images that the member was not able to show in a previous month.

The BCC belongs to two other camera clubs. This means we compete as a club in the 4Cs digital competition (EID) and PSA/ICIC. Some of the best images chosen after being shown at the BCC projected night will be sent o to the 4Cs and PSA/ICIC.

The Boise Camera Club uses an Optoma Model EP 739 (1024x768) projector. Specifications can be found at Optoma's website.

Submission Instructions

1. The images must be in an electronic JPEG file format. The JPEG image file size should be a minimum of 100 KB but no larger than 350 KB. The maximum pixel size for the image is 1024 pixels in the horizontal dimension (WIDTH), and 768 pixels in the vertical dimension (HEIGHT).

2. Naming your images:
- Please rate your images; 1 being your most favorite, 3 being the least favorite. See naming rules next.

- Name your digital image files with (Please use this format even if you only send 1 or 2 images.):

FIRST NAME <space> LAST NAME <dot> RATING <dot> NAME of IMAGE <dot> JPG

For example:

Mike Dingel.1.Old Barn.jpg
Mike Dingel.2.Heron.jpg
Mike Dingel.3.Snow Skier.jpg

This will make it easier for the projected image chairperson to organize the images for display on projected Image night.

3. Images must be saved in sRGB color space, not AdobeRGB or any other format. This will help insure colors will match what you see on your monitor (provided it is properly calibrated) and what is projected on the club’s projector.

4. Attach the image(s) to an e-mail addressed to project@boisecameraclub.org.

5. Images must be received by 12:00 noon on the Sunday before Projected Image night.

6.  Image not conforming to the size and file restrictions or received after the cut-off time will not be displayed or judged.

For detailed information on how to resize your images, please click here.

Monitor calibration charts are available here.

End of Year Competition

The Boise Camera Club will have an award for End of Year Competition with a 1st and 2nd Place Runner-up. There will also be awards in the Assigned Category and a Creative Category competition for digital images. An image must have been judged during the year to be eligible for the End of Year Competition. Images shown in June and July, while not formally judged, will be eligible for the awards program. Assigned subjects are identified for each month. Assigned images must be judged in the month identified for that subject (there are no "make-ups" for Assigned images) and are part of the members allowed images for judging. The definition for the Creative Category is "altered reality".

Members wishing to compete in the Best of Year Category may submit up to five (5) digital images for consideration. Members may also submit up to two (2) in both the Assigned and Creative categories for digital images. An image can be submitted in only one category, even if it has been re-named.
