About the Boise Camera Club

The Boise Camera Club, Inc. (BCC), founded in November of 1934, is a non-profit, social organization made up of individuals with a common interest in photography. The club's membership consists of every skill level from the beginner to the advanced amateur/professional. A common goal is to share knowledge, experiences, and camaraderie gained by learning from each other. For additional enjoyment and encouragement, the club engages in inter/intra club competition. Being a member of the Photographic Society of America (PSA) and the Columbia Council of Camera Clubs (4 C's), our club enters various competitions through these organizations. This includes the very competitive: Inter-Club Print Competition (ICPC) and the Inter-Club Slide Competition (ICSC). Click on History for a more detailed history of the BCC. Click on By Laws to view a copy of the By Laws.

When Does the Club Meet

There are four meetings held each month at 7:00 pm at Meadow Lake Village 4037 E. Clocktower Lane Meridian, Idaho 83642. The first Tuesday is the General Meeting, the second Tuesday is the Print Workshop, the third Tuesday is the Projected Image Workshop (slides and digital images), and the fourth Tuesday is the Stereo Workshop. Click on Meetings for detailed information, including a map. Also click on Projected Image, Prints, or Stereo for more detailed information about the respective Workshops.

Annual Events

During the summer months of July and August, the General Meetings are replaced by a picnic in one of the area parks. In the fall there is a Founder's Day Celebration. In February there is an Awards Banquet in which club members are recognized for their service and photographic achievements. Click on Events for detailed information.

Membership

The BCC has three types of membership: Regular, Associate, and Life. The Regular and Associate memberships are based on a calendar year beginning in January. A Regular member can enter photographic competitions, but an Associate member may not. An Associate member is usually the spouse of a Regular member. The annual cost for membership is $20.00 for Regular and $10.00 for Associate. The club also awards Life membership to select members. Membership is open to anyone of any age, and the BCC would especially like to encourage younger people to join. For more information contact the Membership Chair.

The Viewfinder

The BCC publishes a monthly newsletter "The Viewfinder" which is available for download on our newsletter page. The electronic version is an Adobe Acrobat pdf file in full color. One year's worth of newsletters are archived on this site. Click on Newsletter for detailed information.
